There is an art to napping. Just ask my cats – they’re expert nappers.
To start with, you do have to do something before the nap that is worthy of a nap. Something like writing a blog post, editing a story, making it all the way to your food dish and back.
Second you need the right place for this nap.
Not all naps are equal. A “five minute pick me up” shouldn’t be taken in bed…
and a good solid 2 hour nap in your office chair is going to cause problems.
If it’s someone else’s office chair, all bets are off.
Have a napping buddy.
Naps are better when you’re curled up next to someone else.
Then you not only add to your sleep quotient, but it counts as a social activity. A full on cuddle pile is perfect for a good nap.
Be prepared to dream.
Naps, since they aren’t like night time sleeping, tend to bring out the really weird dreams.
Better yet, you get to remember them. So have a note book handy for when you wake up.
Then get back to writing/prepping for your next nap.
